my stock heads had stepped head bolts... likely due to the bolt hole size

Thats the other option instead of bushings.

Either way if you get a set, see what you have and go from there OP. Head bolt size is not something to argue about on here lol

Interesting,

well im struggling to find a decent set up here in canada,

im hoping to find a set soon! Im assuming they'll need a decent rebuild anyway

I have a set of GT40 irons that have been rebuilt. They have upgraded valve springs to match TFS1 cam. I live in Calgary AB. I am dropping in a 351W soon and these heads will be too small for me to use. Id take what I got in them. $400.00

i prefer gt40 OVER gt40p

and yes you can find real gt40 from a cobra for $300, i see them for $500 with 1.7's and some port work done too.

and thats what you want imo.... stay away from the p's no matter peeps tell you


but to the original question... those DOOE '69 castings were made to work with leaded fuel, so you'll need hardened valve seats at minimum. by the time you do the machine work you'll have paid more than gt40's. and the DOOE are not better... they are almost identical, and they usually sell for $100-$150 a pair
