yep. my bet is its going to be the rear main bearing with the way the rear main seal is leaking all a sudden.

I organized my garage yesterday for about 3 hours to make room for the hoist and engine stand again. Tear down will start very soon.

get her outta there.

IMHO you really should just rebuild you 8.2 and maybe if you have a little money burning a hole in your pocket you could get some better parts.

thats the plan. hopefully the rotating assembly is not all screwed up, and I can reuse the crank, rods, and pistons, and just get the cylinders honed, new rings, maybe a bit tighter for the nitrous use, and new bearings.

I just hate going to a shop I dont know, I am paranoid they will lie to me that the crank and such are screwed up just to get money out of me.

you can uncap your bearings and spin the crank and measure on the journal mains. should be able to see any problems before going in. if i had to guess you're probably chewin up your crank bearings and not your rod bearings since you didnt have a knock prior.

.
you don't tighten ring gap for nitrous use, quite the opposite, think about it, using nitrous superheats combustion chamber and things expand such as rings = butt together and crack if gaps aren't right, often top ring will have a little more gap then lower ring since it'll absorb more heat due to location.

sounds easy enough. I will do my best to measure. I agree about it being the crank bearings also.

I will start the tear down soon. but at the moment I am broke, so It wont be a rushed tear down haha.

ok, maybe I misunderstood. I thought you get tighter rings for nitrous use so that there is less blowby?
