id honestly just call Jim @fordstrokers and either get a 331 or 347. i know's money's tight, but eventually youre gonna want a bigger motor so just get it done now and be happy

hey look on the bright side; at least youve still been driving yours...

the last time mine moved was almost 2 years ago and that was under human power...
i think the last time it ran on its own power was almost 3 years ago...

nah. I got a hungery for speed that cant be fixed with 450-500hp that a stock block can take. I want around 800.

so a 351 is the easiest, cheapest way of doing that. Just at this moment...... I cant afford ****, and I can't bring myself to let the car sit for a entire year until I can build a 351.

i would rather get the 302 rebuild, and have it back up and running pretty quick, then take forever to have a 351 come together.

damn, 3 years? I couldn't do it. I would have sold it

there are days i got to my moms house (i have no garage) and see it there and almost start crying, but when i get home and see the huge pile of goodies in my work area, my mood goes up a lot.

im about a month out on getting my heads, then itll be time for Jim's 331 kit, then a whole bunch of other crap, but i just want to crank it up and hear it rumble...

if its easy enough for ya, just rebuild the stock engine, or look for an exploder, tho idk if those had the forged pistons cuz i know you like the spray.

tho the heads you have would work with a 351 right? I mean they would be on the smaller side, but you can make that back up with the spray....

haha, yea, there have been times when I'm working on it that I have to avoid my garage, or ill get pissed and want to part it out. so its probably better its at your moms place.

i priced out the 351 swap. not going to be able to afford it for a long time.

So 302 rebuild it is.

just have to see if I can afford high compression pistons with big enough valve reliefs for this cam.

even a mild 351 with my heads and cam should ATLEAST pic up 30rwhp by my math. so it would still be a pretty good swap considering the upgrade in block strength and growing room......... but I cant swing the funds right now

A basic 351 swap would cost about 1k from what I have looked into. I have thought about it too. The only thing I am lacking for a swap is a rebuild kit, accessory brackets, and the oil pan kit. That and the motor itself is in Indiana and I am in Texas lol

Good luck with the rebuild!

well from what I looked at its $1550 just to put the motor in the car,(minimum, if you buy decent parts, its $3k to put the motor in) not including getting the 351 and having it rebuilt, which is probably atleast 500-900.

I just cant swing the $2500 minimum right now. It would probably end up being closer to 4000-5000 total

Before u take the engine back out, check to make sure that the oil pressure gauge is correct. Hook up a mechanical one to make sure. If the oil pressure is still low, rebuild it.

Vibration issue: I JUST had the SAME problem after my rebuild. I forgot to install the three pressure plate dowel pins that help to align the pressure plate. I figured there was 6 bolts that align it anyway. WRONG. Bad vibration after 3k! Apparently even 1mm off center makes a massive difference. After 12 hours to pull the trans again and install the pins, it rev's butter smooth through all rpms. It is a long shot that you also did the same thing, but it could save you from a rebuild, haha

I just installed a new oil pressure sending unit the day I got the gauge working again. and yes the wiring is right, no other way to do it wrong.

also the dowel pin's are in the flywheel and properly installed
