gt40p heads, intake, and cam.
i just picked up a stock 93 GT, it just has headers. even with a stock air box .
this is my first 5.0. is it safe to use the GT40 parts off an explorer (heads, intake, and manifold) with an f303 or b303 cam? what would you recommend for basic bolt ons? also, how much do i have to modify the timing for these heads and cam? ive never done a head or cam swap yet.
sorry if i sound a bit on the inexperienced side. its my first 5.0. but hey, we all gatta start somewhere.
thanks in advance for the help!

Well heads and cam will be ok, the intake will work with a other than explorer plenum i believe it is backwards from the mustang setup!
with those heads the max lift for flow is .500 so b,e,f cams or similar will work ok with them!

Using explorer parts is the poor mans upgrade. You will see nice gains over stock. Just remember that if you go with the heads (GT40P) you will be limited to what headers you can run. The spark plugs go in at an angle, spark plug boots will hit the headers. I have the "P" heads and I'm running FRPP shorties with no problems. Here is the HP differences from
GT-40/Cobra/explorer.

i would spend some money on port work... it'll go a LOOONNNNG way here
explorer upper is ok, cobra better, gt40 tubular better yet. for the lower you want one that ends in AA (look near the dizzy cutout) that is the large port lower... NOT FOUND on explorers, they are BA
anyways, match the lower to a 1250 fel-pro gasket, do a valve job on the heads, port the exhaust and smooth out the intake turns in the heads. best $300-$400 you can spend... probably double the gain of that combo and make doing the cam worth it over just a set of 1.7s and stock cam
but thats just my opinion

If you need to find a set of gt40-p's, I've got a set for sale. 150$ + shipping and they're yours
I agree with nitrous bob 100%. get a nice valve Job on the heads, maybe a nice cleanup, and port that explorer lower a lil bit.. N you're golden. Just don't go overboard... Remember what makes these heads great: they're CHEAP. You can rackup a bill at the machine shop in a hurry. Also, I'd go with a tfs stage 1 cam for this setup. If you do go with P heads, better have longtubes (or p specific headers) or you're probably not gonna clear
