i have a 1986 mustang gt, i was just wondering and i have been told that the 5.0's were ment for a little bit of abuse. now i know you shouldnt red line ur car everyday but gettin on it like twice a week. is this ok for my engine, when did they start puttin forged pistons in.
my buddy had over 200,000 miles on his 89 5.0 and he beat the snot out of it on a daily basis.the tires were always smoking.he also had that motor in 5 different cars too.

Having forged pistons or cast is not really as big of a deal as people tend to think. My other car is a 97 Twin turbo supra. I am running 18 lbs of boost on the stock motor its about 475 HP at the motor and it has cast pistons not forged. alot of guys push 800 HP on the stock motor with no problems.
My point is forged pistons aren't your biggest thing to worry about.
