Cool, I made one of those about 7 years ago and have never used it. I will when I put my motor back together as long as I have everything for the EFI

found this gunk in the bottom end of the old motor. I thought it was just RTV, but its really brittle and odd. maybe bits of bearing mashed together? idk.

but the oil sure is sparkly and pretty! haha

ugh, what a MESS! I hate rushing and just piling **** everywhere. some coolant was still in the motor and when I flipped it over......... made a good mess :/

old motor is dismantled other then the rods/pistons ETC. I will leave the carnage for another day. I want to focus on my goal of having my car running in a week and a half.

I only had time to install the cam into the new motor :/ But It should be a BREEZE to assemble this motor. I was even able to pull the heads without pulling the headers off. with the stage 8 locking bolts, that is going to save me atleast 30min but probably closer to an hour of total work not having to deal with that

got some time tomorrow set aside to pound out more work, but not to much. then I will be busy monday. Tuesday and wednesdayI should have some time to do more work also.

WTH is that crap? What kind of oil were you using? I would have to see it in person to see what the gunk is but the stuff in the oil pick up is what gets me. I wonder if that was there, killed oil pressure, which killed the bearings, hense causing issues you had...

idk what it is. its really brittle and thin. I thought it was RTV, but its not rubber-ish or anything.

So IDK, thats why I was thinking bits of bearing that got melted together or something? idk.

Mobil 1 synthetic is all I use in the car. I will probably be using wal-mart oil for the first 50-100 miles of this motor though.

I don't think its what caused the issue. its not completely blocked or anything, so I don't think the motor was starving for oil. The motor was over rev'ed half a dozen times, and the one time the car spun on some unexpected gravel and revved up off the gauge, the vibration was instantly worse. remember, the car has no rev limiter, and with this good h/c/i combo, I don't doubt it will rev up to 7,000-7,500 very rapidly.

no bent valves, or marks on the pistons from contact with the valves, so the over rev'ing didn't cause any damage to the heads
