Default 89 Lx Foxbody 5.0L Spedo and Gas Gauge

My spedo does not work how can i go about fixing it?

And Can my sender be bad and my Fuel pump still work?

It says it is ABOVE full But it Never Goes down so it does not work
Or can it just be the gauge bad?

I took the dash apart. and checked if the gauge was just stuck but it wasnt it Moved right back to FULL >.> someone help please

Make sure your speedometer cable is attached to your transmission. Make sure it is attached to the speedometer head unit in your dash properly.

99% of speedo problems are 1 of 2 things.

a broken cable (the part inside the plastic...you cant see it until you take it off)
or a chewed up driven gear on the end of the cable that goes into the trans

id check the driven gear first...its a 5 minute job, then try to spin the cable while it's out and have someone see if it does anything to the speedo needle
