Question Squeal at start up

Seems to go away after engine has been driving and is warmed up, but when I start it up cold, it squeals like a loose belt? Or alternator?
I know that’s a bit vague...but
Any thoughts?

Thanks!

my vortech set-up always made noise on start-up. it didn't matter if i had a new belt or not. the belt wrap of the alternator was not ideal...but the engine made like 200 more hp with the supercharger, so i overlooked it

Have you checked your tensioner? It might be allowing some slip

All the belts have no more than 1/2” slack in them, which I believe( but not 100%certain) is acceptable?

Check the arrow on the tensioner and see if its about midway or further in its travel range. If its closer to the end of its range, its probably time for a new belt.Another symptom of it being time for belt replacement is when the belt begins chirping or squeaking anytime its raining or has recently rained or sometimes even when theres too much moisture in the air from humidity. You can also check the tensioner itself to make sure the spring tension hasnt weakened. If its really easy to retract the tensioner while installing the belt, the tensioner may be in need of replacement.
