Default Short throw shifter

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum if anyone cares. I've had my '16 GT Premium 6 speed for about 2 months now, and I can't fight the urge to mod it much longer. I already have some ideas for the basics: catback, intake, etc. The one thing I'm not sure about is a short throw shifter, and I haven't found any forums on the topic. As I'm sure many of you would agree, I find the shifts on the MT-82 to be a little rough, and when driving more aggressively, I miss a gear from time to time. Now, I'm not a racer, and this is my daily driver, so that's something I'll take into consideration. Can anyone share some insight on their experiences with any short throws? I know there's a few on the market like Barton, Steeda, Hurst, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No forums about shifters? Come on man. Anyway welcome to Mustangforums. And to answer your question imo. MGW hands down. Disclaimer I can't speak for one on the mt82, but have had several on prior mustangs (tr3650, T-5's). I myself will be putting one on my 16gt pp car shortly. Want to get a few more miles on it. Only 3 weeks old. Lol.

I had a Barton in the previous generation and it worked great.

Thanks man, I appreciate the answer. If/when you do install it, hit up this thread if you don't mind. I'd like to hear what it does for the MT-82.

Yeah, a buddy of mine has a Challenger with the Barton short throw and I love it. I wonder what it's like on the Stang.

Where you in Indy Tom? I'm southside.

I've been looking at the Steeda one, I heard the MGW is off centered when installed, sits more in between 5th & 6th than 3 and 4.

Keep in mind the reverse lockout, the Hurst ones look awful IMO.

Heard good things about Barton, but I'm still leaning towards the Tri-Ax from Steeda.

I just put the steeda in mine about a month ago. Easiest to do if you drop the exhaust and drive shaft off the transmission. It took longer to install than my new exhaust.

Happy to help anyone looking for the Steeda shifter - with forum discount of course! You can shoot me a note for pricing at tim@steeda.com.

Here is a review of our shifter:

I'm in Fort Wayne. My son just moved to southside Indy. Word to the wise. If you pull up next to a blue 2004 350Z with a good looking blonde young man in it at a light, think twice before taking him on. That thing is wicked fast.
