Default 2012 GT-V-8-6MT->EngineOil Level

Got the car 4 days ago and have put 200+ miles on it. Taking it easy(I know everybody has their own methods for breakin) with running it through the gears not over 4500rpm and no constant speed on a highway.

After car has been off for 15 minutes, checking the oil level shows it between the two marks on the stick. Even adding oil to the full mark , later shows the oil just above halfway. Not leaking any oil and added a JLT Oil Seperator that show only residue at this point.

Would appreciate any feedback as to your experience when new and after

Possibly dumb question, but is there any chance you parked on more of a hill one time while checking than another? I know what you mean by this happening too though. I had it happen with my 5.0 and I'm not sure what happens to the extra oil haha.

Also though, I wouldn't worry at all about it only being half way between the marks, especially since if your engine happens to find the extra oil eventually, removing it to save risking the engine from damage is a giant pain in the *** lol.

I'm guessing, but I'd imagine it would take longer than 15 minutes for all the oil on top to get back in the pan. Check it in the morning before you fire it up and see what it says.

My practice is to check the oil at each fuel fill. I keep the oil between the tick marks.

At the low tick mark add a quart to bring it back into the range.

It would really suck to try and bring it near the top tick mark (not at all required) to go over the maximum level tick mark. Now the oil level has gone from acceptable to unacceptable for no reason. Now oil should be removed from the engine to prevent possible damage that has gone over the maximum for no reason.

Keep it between the tick marks and make things simple.

u have 8qts in there... if ur a 1/2 qt low its not the end on the world. u do need to let the car settle for awhile to get an accurate reading..

Default Thanks for the answers

I was talking with the sales mgr last week(a real car nut) and he said give it some time to settle down to give you a reading. I now have about 500 miles on it and it stays between the two holes on the dip stick. I realize the pan is an 8 qts capicity but still would like to make sure where the mark is for a 8 qt fillup.

Anybody out there with a 2011 or 2012 that has had their first oil/filter change??? If so, where was your fill mark
