And this is not true just for 'Stangs, but cars of all brands. I have seen it happen to Chevy's and Dodges. Guys would throw in the most powerful big blocks they could build and not even upgrade or build up the tranny. Broken gears left and right. Stripped rear diff bevel teeth. Thrown driveshafts from weak u-joints.
Funny you mention this, because I am the opposite.. I worry about the transmission as much if not more than the motor

I worry about everything in the drive train. Supercharge the engine, even if it is built, all that torque will put all sorts of stresses on everything downstream.

Most stock trannies, even on Chevys and Dodges, cannot take what a seriously modded engine will pump out. Some trannies might live for dozens, maybe even a hundred or so passes down the strip, but they will break, it is just a matter of time.

And of course, even if you put in a gear box rated for 000 ft-lbf crank torque, the driveshaft, U-joints, rear diff, and axles now become the next weakest parts.

That's because you've never built your car up more than the power it's capable of handling

I can swap out a pulley and make about 550+whp, but it's sure as hell ain't gonna last long and I know better.

If you think you can run 9's bolting on a blower on your 5.0 like those companies are, you might be in for a surprise

Especially if you think nothing will break along the way.

Ya I read all these mags and they have had a KB on a Boss that made like 800whp, it's cool that they did that on the dyno in the mag but I can rest assured one trip down the track and that thing is going to pieces.
