I dont know if someone else already said it, I just read the 1st post.

But dollar for dollar, the power to dollar spent for just a tune vs a CAI + tune kit goes to the CAI + tune kit. You get more advertised HP back on the CAI + tune kit than just buying a tune.

ahh i didn't answer your question on the WHP gain, i believe its about 10-20whp with 15 being average, should put you close to 420whp mark in a manual, 415 in an auto. dynos read differently on different days and even from run to run can be 5whp so it's always tough to say exactly how much a mod adds.

but I agree, you cant do a dyno one day then weeks later add a mod and redyno to see the results.. the 371whp sounds close to what most people see stock, 392whp with cai+tune.. hmm do you have an auto? most people see around 400whp. could be a low reading dyno... ofcourse it's impossible to compare dyno to dyno they are more of a tuning tool than judging how fast your car is, you dyno yours at 380whp on someones dyno someone else dynos their car somewhere else at 410whp with the same mods, you go to the drag strip and run near identical times if you drive both cars. so one doesn't really have 30 more whp, just different dynos.

i'm not sure if that makes sense... basically you can put too much stock into what a dyno reads.

Hell, for another 100 bucks more you can buy the Boss intake (500) over the CAI (380). Unless the Boss intake really benefits from the added flow of the intake (which I am guessing is the case because the higher the RPM the more CFM going through the intake).

Boss intake is a waste of money unless you have PP heads and cams. The restriction is not the intake manifold. There was a thread on here somewhere of a person complaining about exactly that issue.

They put the Boss intake on and got minimal gains (no head work, no cams). They were pissed because they swapped the intake manifolds thinking it would provide a big gain. IIRC it was only about 5-7 rwhp over the stock intake manifold.

I have suspected the Tune did more for my car that the CAI, but my CAI required a tune, so I couldent effectively test.

Exhaust only my car put down 356.
Dyno tune + exhaust.. 396 or 391 Cant remember sheet is in car...
My CAI will be in monday and the car will be redyno tuned and he said i should expect 410-420.

He is very experienced. One of the most known tuners in the houston area, so he knows what he is talking about.... I will post dyno sheet monday after its done.

@Dsargent09 - yep, that sounds like what most people get with cai+exhaust.. with no other work done the cai isn't much though, around 10whp.

@Derf00 yeah you dont gain peak whp out of the boss intake manifold, but instead of power dropping at 6,000rpm it stays flat. it's good for 1/4 mile junkies and people who want the most out of easy/cheap bolt-ons. most see about a .2 gain from the extra 50+whp you get past 6500rpm and being able to rev to 7500 w/o losing a bunch of power. It's not a mod for everyone, but works well for me.
