Why not just do it yourself? Gives you lessons on how your car ticks, gives you the satisfaction of a job well done by your self, and you will see what I have been complaining about all along about how sorry the stock shifter assembly really is. Looks like a 2-3 hour job. Mine shipped today and will be here tomorrow. I will have to wait until this weekend to install it if I am not working OT. Why not just give it a shot?

I am debating not doing it because a lift is highly recommended for the install, and I don't want to do this on jackstands. Back isn't what it used to be. If I had a lift, I would do it though.. I am fairly mechanically inclined... just old and get sore easy

Took me about 1.75 hrs with a lift. I probably could've done it in an hour if Barton's instructions would've been a little clearer. Good instructions for the shifter and good ones for the bracket, but not the two together. Anyways it's possible to do it on your back b/c there's really not that much that has to be done under the car. But if you get sore easily you probably wouldn't be able to move the next day. So I could understand if you decided to pay someone.
I couldn't believe how crappy the stock shifter was. Stamped steel and plastic. As I remember my 05's shifter was better quality from the factory.

Looks like Ford spent about 2$ on design and manufacturing the thing. A total peice of junk no matter how you look at it. My MGW came in today. I was hoping to put it in this weekend. Looks more & more like OT this weekend.

First off, let me guess where you are from? I am seeing tons more people from AL on this forum. If you watch the videos on the MGW website and then get under your car and look at the factory shifter, you will se what just about everybdy is talking about. I read in one post a while back that someone could not imagine anyone geeting anything other than an MGW. I got mine yesterday and it is 100% top quality and rock solid. Can't wait until I put it in. Also for those of you watching the videos, they have changed a couple of things with the current production shifters to make it even better.

I picked mine up with 1500mi of prelove for cheap. A member on another forum had traded his manual for an auto. And after looking at it the Barton is actually a pretty nice piece. And it has super short throws. But I think it's worth a little extra for the MGW if buying new.

Ha ha ha. Yep, just right down the road from you. I watched all of the install videos from their site, and they are very convincing. I was thinking about getting a Hurst shifter until I found MGW.

A little off topic, I am very disappointed there isn't a Ford Racing Dealer in the entire state. The closest one is in GA or TN.

The closest one to us I think is in Franklin TN. Considering the size of the dealership in Huntsville. it's a shame. Really for a city it's size there are no performance shops. I am also surprised that Long-Lewis in Muscle Shoals is not one either.
