That makes sense. That also could be the reason why Ford has the rear shifter mounts with the same thing in mind. To shear & drop down instead of coming up and spearing some one in the back seat, although there is no room really for someone back there. It would also mean that the DS & the shifter would also drop and miss the gas tank.

Considering most people never greased their u-joints or any other greasable fitting, it's no surprise.

Personally, I never saw the advantage of greasable vs non greasable u-joints/ball joints etc for every day. More of a PITA than anything else.

The average car never see service severe enough to warrant greasable joints and if you are into racing or offroading they make special parts that are greasable.

Typical Ford trying to cut corners. I agree with Mapitts and Clowe1965, if it gets to bad dump it and get a one piece. But, my bank account is getting tired of Ford's constant mistakes.

I too would rather grease it every now and again, not sure I trust U joints that can't be greased.
