On the topic of legality and inspections, I couldn't help but notice that OP listed his location as Muscat. I'm not familiar with Oman's emissions requirements, but I would encourage OP to look into that before messing with the cats at all.

im driving around (track use only) with precisely 0 cats in my 5.0. CEL on the dash but it doesn't really bother me. I've gotten used to the noise on the inside of the car but everyone swears that its the end of the world when im puttering (track use only) around. HA! don't warm up the car in the garage tho...

Doesn't matter if your state, or counties in the state do not have emissions, the car is
to fail if a visual fails. No one does their jobs, is all... We have counties in PA that
do not have emissions. If the CEL is on, that gives them lease to look over the car,
and if any of the emissions devices are missing, or tampered with, they are legally
bound to fail the car for inspection. They can also call a state trooper and have you
cited. Federal laws also apply...

The real issue is, they all just want their money, and don't care, so they do not do a
visual on the emissions susyem. This is why emissions it a total scam. People across
the bridge from me can run straight pipes and pass inspection, because the garage
didn't care. As soon as they start it up to pull it INTO the facility, they know, but
they pass it anyway... MONEY...

2006 Mustang V-6 4.0 L
Catalyst has broken up in the converter and makes clanking noise
Will it screw up the engine if I remove the ceramic catalyst from inside the converter?
Will it affect the gas mileage ?
