Alternator whine isolators????
I first had RF wiring an then i replaced them with streetwire. With my old amp I had alot of engine noise coming through my speakers, and engine whine, now that i got my new amp its a little alt. whine but not much since i got my new battery but its still there, I rewired the whole thing and it still has the whine, so i think im gonnna try the isolator an if that doesnt work get an aftermarket alternator....
a new alt wont help out your engine wine but sometimes if you have your gain too far up on your amp it can cause engine noise.my car had engine noise a while back it was my factory harness was too close to the rca's.you can get rid of it w/o a isolator it just takes alot of troubleshooting
I have 5.5 years of professional car stereo experence, and have been an electrical engineer for 6 years. This is my thoughts, use it if you wish.
In order to induct an ac frequency into any vehicle is from an ac source. There are only a few ac sources in any stock vehicle. There is only one that has a direct corolation with engine speed. The alternator is an ac generator, and is the only ac source with a variable frequency related to engine speed. All alternators are filtered and converted into a dc voltage through electronics. The voltage regulator. The only way the ac frequency can enter into the rest of the automotive system is because of a bad alternator or bad voltage regulator. The best way to elliminate any induced noise is at the source. This doesnt mean the alternator is "noticably" bad, but the electronics are, or are out of tune.
Using things like the link you asked about or capacitors only bandaids the problem out of the audio system. The induced ac frequency is still going to be throughout the vehicle electrical systems including the computers, hvac controls, even simply the headlights. A low level noise like this does not nessicarly cause problems in any systems because they have a tollerance level.
Think of it this way. All the systems are functioning, just as your radio is. But they have an annoyance present. Like the "whine" you are hearing. You can filter it out of the audio components so you wont hear it but you computers still do.
The filter you link will work only if the "whine" that you hear is introduced threw the grounding system, and is transmitted from deck to the amp threw the rca grounds. It will not work if its introduced threw any other means, ie. antenna or power supply.
I hope I wasnt to technical with you. Use this information how you seem fit.
