Audio Questions???
I just dont want to spend a ton on a bettery. I got a small sealed motorcycle battery from a friend that is 12volt 7AH. Any of you electronic wizards know how I can calculate how long the battery charge will last???
I live in San Antonio, Texas and we float the river alot in tubes. One tube for me. One for the cooler of beer. And I want to build a sterio inside of the cooler with a head unit two 5.5in speakers and a battery that will last as long as possible without being to large or to expensive. Thats why I am trying to figure out what battery I will be before I buy a cooler. I need to size up all the components before I buy the cooler they will all fit in.
lol...sorry to be a smart ***...just seems like you're going through a LOT of trouble for this...why not get one of the sat radio boom boxes and either hook up an AM/FM radio to the aux input or someother kind of ALREADY portable stereo system...I know there are Jeep boom boxes that are really durable...is this because you want to use some kind of HIGH end components or somethin?
I am collecting some speakers and a head unit from friends. The idea is to build it with the speakers and head unit at the top of the cooler facing out when the top is open. And the battery at the bottom. This way it can be latched closed for a water tight seal that will FLOAT (incase of tippage). It gets drunken out there and tipping over happens ALOT. The jeep ones do not have enough bouancy (sp) to float. I have seen some out and the river and have been warned that they dont float. But a cooler loaded with beer and ice will float.
I don't know which head unit you're using, but I'm pretty sure if it's a cd player, if it gets tipped upside down while powered on, it might mess up. I'm not an electrician, but that's what the top of my mach 460 HU says.

good idea would be to pick up one of those marine specific HU from sony/pioneer and also get the water tight plastic housing for them...sounds like a cool idea though make sure to let us know how it comes out if you get er done
well if you're listening to a cd it might it to skip....other than that i dont see why the radio would just BREAK if turned upside down...i mean they see a lot of bumps/vibrations from just being in cars in the first place..i dont think that is correct
