disable e-brake on eclipse avn5495
i recently had an eclipse avn5495 unit installed in my car, and of cource, when it was installed, they connected it to the e-brake making some functions disabled while driving. however, this is VERY annoying when i have a passanger in the car who can type in the address or what-not into the gps for me. i know that people have disabled this on their systems, but i have not found any forums or guides online so far
thanks
thanks
Take your radio out and find which wire is the E-Brake one, lk in the manual of the unit. and run it to a solid ground, all you have to do is ground it out. They connect it to the same wire that switches on your ebrake light in your dash, so the only time it'll play is when that lights on.
a grounded wire is one that is connected to something metal, like the chasis of the car, a chasis ground, just look for there should be a BLACK ground wire on your headunit harness, you can route it there...
You might not even need to take out the radio. You can probably just go to the switch under the brake handle and find the wire they tapped in. Just remove that wire and tap it into the wire on the other side of the switch. I have that same unit and grounding the wire works fine for keeping everything enabled.
Here's a couple. One of the navigator screen and one of the Sirius menu.
