Melted the Remote Wire!?
Well today my radio wasn't working so I was checking out all of the wires to see what was up. I noticed that one of the wires into the amp came loose so i tightened her all up assuming it would fix the problem, so I put the key in and try to turn on the radio when i start seeing smoke come pouring out so I immediately shut off the car and start to check out what was up. Turns out that my remote wire is fried, the whole thing is shot, all the insulation around it like burnt up. I started following the wire back and found that the 8 gauge power wire had a slice in it from rubbing and the remote wire was touching it. My guess is that the power went through the remote and since it was too small of gauge shorted it out or something, i'm not sure. Now the radio wont go on and the windows won't go up. Does anybody have any clue what happened here because I sure dont. I have an 850w planet audio amp with 2 JL 10 w6's off the stock headunit btw.
The remote wire melted from the short to i'm not really sure where to actually it looks like it goes to the ignition, but the power wire only melted where the remote wire was touching it just because the remote got so hot.
