Default Basic installation questions

Hey, just got my fosgate amp/sub. I have an '04 GT. I also got an 8 gauge wire kit for the amp. I know to run the power cable on the driver's side of the car and the amp turn-on and RCA on the passenger side. My question is, however, where can I put the power cable through the firewall...where is the best location? And should the power cable just be run under the driver's door panel/carpet?

-Best location for ground to be wired in the trunk?

-Is it necessary to secure my single (12") sub box in the trunk with brackets? (I got a custom-made angled box that fits fairly tight in the back of the trunk)

-I'd like to secure my amp to the back of my passenger side seat but I don't want to drill holes in it when securing it...any alternatives to this? Is there some kind of strong double sided tape I can use?

All the help is greatly appreciated...thanks!

You have the running of the wires correct! There is usually some sort of grommet in the firewall (probably way up top) that you can poke a coat hanger through/old antenna through into the interior from inside the engine bay. Tape up the 8 ga wire to the antenna and put a little bit of liquid dish soap on the wire to aid in pulling the wire through the grommet. Last resort is drilling a hole and usuing some sort of grommet to keep you from burning down your ride.

***Do not run the wire around the door frame and into your engine bay, you'll end up buring your ride down***

Any spot in the trunk is fine, but you'll need to grind down the pain to bare metal, usually find some bolt with a nut you can remove and then just re-install it, but make sure it's a good, clean contact, the frame of the car is best. If you have engine noise, then, typically you don't have a very good ground. You can always go back with some touch up paint to clean it up if it bugs you.

When your ripping through your gears, do you want your subs flying out the back???? Screw em down. It's harder for them to be ripped off if they are secured to the floor.

I wouldn't recomend any tape, screw the amps down too. When they get warm you'll have a gooy mess from the tape.

If your not experienced, don't half-a$$ it, just work a little OT and pay the local shop to do it to avoid lots of headaches, frying your equipment, or at worse, sending your ride up in smoke.

Good luck!
