fuse popping
i have a kenwood 800 watt max amp pushing a 900 watt max kicker l5, i have a 1000 amp fuse in the engine bay and a distribution block in the trunk with a 800 amp fuse, i keep blowing the 800 amp fuse, what would cause this?? thanks
Well for starters if you have a 1000 amp fuse you must be god becasue that is insane.
Im guessing that you have a regualr 100 ANL style fuse up front and an 80 out back. 1st it is never a good idea to run a larger fuse up front becasue it makes the out back useless.
The problems I would check to make shure that the power cord isnt broken, make shure that you have completly grounded the amp. Make shure that you have cleared all the paint around where you have grounded the amp, but this would normally cause the amp to clip or "Cut out" at a high volume.

my bad, it's a 100 in the front and 80 in the back, lol, don't know what i was thinking, anyways, i have two of the kenwood amps in my trunk, i was planning on getting two subs but the trunk space wouldn't allow me to, i kept popping the one fuse with the one amp so i tried the other amp and that popped too, i might take that distribution block out see if it pops the fuse in the engine bay, i grounded the ground wire where there's wires grounded already, i'm guessing the convertible tops hinges are grounded.
Sounds to me like you have a short somewhere. The trouble is finding it. In terms of testing the convertible top hings for a ground, get yourself a test light and check them. Thats always the easiest way.
