Open cars (hatch foxbodies, etc) you want a ported box, youll want the sound waves to travel through the air because you share the same space as the enclosure. Cars with trunks (sn95's,etc) you want a sealed box, itll resonate inside the trunk using it as another enclosure. Thats my rule of thumb, ported boxes sound like **** in trunk and sealed boxes sound like **** in hatch cars.

i have to disagree i had sealed boxes in my 86 hatch and that ****en hammered in my car ported boxes sound good too i guess it on ur sound preferance if you like low bass go with sealed if u like to hear the air blowning and a hard hitting bass go with ported but there is also bandpass boxes to
