full system replace
i am gutting out my existing mach 460 stereo and replacing it all with pioneer/ kicker/ boston acoustic components. i was wondering if anyone out there has totally rewired their car so it is like a regular stereo (no Mach 460 components left in the car)
if so let me know how it went!
thanks ahead of time!

I have bypassed all the mach components. New CD player andnew speaker wiring. I didnt want to destroy the car so I left all the stock wiring/amps and everything in place. I used adapter plates to convert the stock speaker holes to fit 5.25 woofers and I put nice dome tweeters in behind the factory tweeter housings. The crossovers are sitting behind the kickpanels in the front, and the othertwo are inside the speaker enclosure in the back. You cant even tell I have aftermarket stuff in there at all andthe factory parts have not been damaged. If I wanted to sell the car, I could replace everything back to stock If I wanted to no problems. Iprobably would never sell the car and if I did im sure the people would like the aftermarket system i have way better than the stock mach.
I just went and bought like 50ft of 16 gauge premium speaker wire. It was only like 15cents a foot. Then I bought a wiring harness for the cd player I bought and installed it. On the harness it tells you which wires go the which speakers. I ran my new wire directly from the CD player output wires and ran them under the carpet, to the crossovers. Then from the crossovers I used the same wire to run through the doors to the speakers and in the big enclosure in the back. Totally dont even use any of the stock speaker wire. I just run the aftermarket right up next to it and plugged to the speakers. It was super easy but it took awhile. You should do it. It was cheap and it sounds great! no more distortion!
awesome thats my next winter project im doing while the stang is in the shop for the winter. thanks for the help. ill send you a PM if i have any questions and hopefully you can help me out!
