Please, everyone, stop calling a type R loud. Start calling it distorted garbage, not loud.
lol...two of them make a lot of noise then...and their distortion is no where NEAR my first system which consisted of those Circuit City deal 10" Sony subs....the black ones...lower than the 5-sided ones...wow THOSE sucked...i'm thinking about the Focal Polyglass speakers...but then they only handle 75w RMS and i want to get rid of my rear speakers altogether to bridge my amp to send 150w to the front stage...and the Focals are $450 a pair...i am also going to add a Zapco external EQ sometime this summer...probably the SP7-SL...my HU has started to act up lately too so i might be in the market for a new one....looking at that new Alpine 1001 that is iPod only and actually has a digital connection to the ipod...i haven't put a CD into my current radio in months!...and yes i listen to my music converted to Apple Lossless so it is NOT compressed MP3 garbage....but yea i dont think i'll be getting a XXX anytime soon...maybe 1 12" SX though...still be able to use my MRD-M1001....but yea any recommendations on a set of components for SQ...i listen to EVERYthing so they have to able to reproduce everything well!....under 500 bucks a pair
If you want sq then the xxx is for you, although at retail of 600 or so a driver, then it's not for the faint of heart. I would always recommend focal for comp sets, a few others I personally like (comps are all about what you like, no one can suggest a brand and expect you to like it) are Rainbow, and CDL's.

Edit: Forget the eq, it's just a bandaid for the installer's, yourself of whomever it may be, mistakes.

I hate the lower line focal's, they seem to be sooooo harsh.

It really sucks RE got bought out by US amps becuase now the XXX retails for like $1200.

Do Boston before JL. Much warmer, present bass. JL highs kinda bite too, Bostons are clear and smooth compared to of course.

Bull crap. A convertable setup (basically a really really nice coax) can provide supreme imaging.

Any coax run off an aftermarkey hu is going to be underpowered, so just go listen to places and decide what you like best.

If you were going to run an aftermarket amp then they would just flat out sound better
