Default RE: TYPE R!!!

i have two 10" Type-Rs with a MRD-M1005 amp powering them...and Type-R speakers all around...i have never once claimed to have the baddest/best system on the block or forums...the subs have more going for them than the speakers do...the speakers are not that good and i am pissed that i didn't do more research first...looking into Focal Polyglass to replace them (get rid of the rears altogether)...as for subs...i eventually want to go to 1 12" because i don't need that much bass...the Type-Rs are definitely LOUD...but yea SQ is just so-so...i really don't see them as low as you guys are claiming them though...just because they are sold at Best Buy and Circuit City doesn't really mean anything...compared to the other stuff sold there they are some of the higher stuff sold there because they don't even have the "good" Fosgate stuff at those places...i plan to go to a RE XXX later...and keep my amps...any suggestions on other speakers (6.5 components) for under 500 bucks?...what about subs?...and instead of brands/companies can you guys post exact MODELS?...

Thats the beauty of decent brands you don't have to be model specific to get a great product. Look at Rockford their Power series isn't half as bad as the Punch line. Alpine Type-S and their Type-Xsame scenario. You say Focal, Rainbow, CDT any model and you'll be satisfied. It just comes down to how long you want them to last, how hard you'll use them and how loud you want them to be.

I wouldn't run the CDT Karma (sp?) series.

Look at the CL-61 series. There is one on woofersetc.com for 99.99 that even has the upgraded tweeter. Very sexy!!!

Please, everyone, stop calling a type R loud. Start calling it distorted garbage, not loud.

lol...two of them make a lot of noise then...and their distortion is no where NEAR my first system which consisted of those Circuit City deal 10" Sony subs....the black ones...lower than the 5-sided ones...wow THOSE sucked...i'm thinking about the Focal Polyglass speakers...but then they only handle 75w RMS and i want to get rid of my rear speakers altogether to bridge my amp to send 150w to the front stage...and the Focals are $450 a pair...i am also going to add a Zapco external EQ sometime this summer...probably the SP7-SL...my HU has started to act up lately too so i might be in the market for a new one....looking at that new Alpine 1001 that is iPod only and actually has a digital connection to the ipod...i haven't put a CD into my current radio in months!...and yes i listen to my music converted to Apple Lossless so it is NOT compressed MP3 garbage....but yea i dont think i'll be getting a XXX anytime soon...maybe 1 12" SX though...still be able to use my MRD-M1001....but yea any recommendations on a set of components for SQ...i listen to EVERYthing so they have to able to reproduce everything well!....under 500 bucks a pair

Bostons are supposed to sound good and run at really low power, never heard them so i can't give personal opinion, but I have heard from a lot of people (not the same friends who are running the Type R's) that they sound clean and can run off low power (I think like 35 RMS).

I have heard the JL Audio XR series (yeah, I know everyones been cuppin JL's *****, but to me it's like grabbin a nice set of ****, if there good, go for it, and not just once) and they sound really clear to me, I thought they were nicely balanced (not to bright like a lot of the alpines) and the bass was nice and clean. I'm kinda a noob to car audio, so they may be crap, I'd check with PReal, he knows a lot more than I do.

They are a three way setup, so I'm not sure if that is what you were looking for, they have a 6.5" woofera 4" Midand 1" tweeters.
