Default Best single sub and amp for <2K

I'm looking for a high quality sub / amp combo. I was originally thinking JL 12W7 (and JL 1000W) due to its massive excursion. I have a friend with one and it sounds great. Hits hard and accurate too. Its going to be a sealed enclosure (custom built by me). I'm looking for the most accurate, tight bass and spl is not a concern. It will not be a competition stereo. Small enclosure requirements are also a big plus. Please recommend some options. High quality stuff only.

How big of a box can you build?
What's it going in?
By tight bass do you mean SQ?
Why do you want a small box?

How big of a box can you build? I can build any size / shape box, but it has to fit in a mustang trunk.
What's it going in? Mustang
By tight bass do you mean SQ? Yes, I like bass to sound more like a kick drum than a rap beat. I dont like "mushy" bass.

You have a $2,000.00 limit for sub(s) amp(s) and that's it. Or do you need all the proper wiring, etc. etc.

Yes,
I'd like to stick with a single sub and single amp to save room. I have 2 gauge wire, rca's, etc already run. Alpine 7998 for a head unit. I also have some MDF for the box.

XXX 12 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4920

Diamond audio 1500 watt rms amp http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=2697

Very nice. If only you had another 2-3 hundred you could afford a really really nice amp.

That or the XXX, or a Tumult. Zapco/Brax/McIntosh/Audioson amp. Thats quite the budget just for the sub and amp!

And those recommendations I gave you will easily fulfill it.

OMG, P!!! did you see the weight of that thing? I am sure it will sound great, but you will make sparks off tail pipes driving down the road

I personally would recommend Boston SPG 555. Will handle immense power and weighs in at 26 lbs.
3 3/4 peak to peak excursion, and can be rebuilt with new VC should you clip it too many times.

He wanted the best, I posted the best. I'm sure the boston is dandy, but it won't win this competition.

I guess some of the budget needs to go towards heavy duty shocks lol.
