max I am sorry to call you out but you are wrong and giving bad info. The remote turn on wire is a small 12V low current wire that turns on and off with the deck. This wire does nothing more then to turn on a relay in the amp, to then allow it do draw it voltage(12v) and high current(30-???? amps)from the battery via the large gauge power wire that you should have ran. It is not meant to handle more then a couple of hundred MILLIamps(10^-3) and will give out if too many amps, eq's or other accesories are wired into it. Because it is such a low current there is NO noise made from it and I will bet my 15 yrs on it..

I have been installing for around 15 yrs for various shops and I like to think I know a little bit about it now. I don't know anything about engines which is why I do not give advise in that section. Please only give advise when you know it is true so that we do not mislead anyone leading to any damage. This certainly would not cause any damage but I would just hate to see it happen

Been installing for 15 yrs. I have ALWAYS ran my remote wire with my rca's just like everyone else does. I have never had noise from a remote wire........... The remote wire is not a power wire and it is perfectly acceptable to run with the rca's.
The remote wire holds constant 12v power, and is a power wire. Its just not a high amperage lead.

The only time I ran my remote with my RCAs I had noise with turn signals, engine hum, and alt whine. Maybe it was just a fluke in that car. That's also my only experience with a ground loop isolator box (and it didn't work).

Anyhow t, I respect you and your knowledge and I'm not trying to say you're wrong. I just had an experience, be it one time, that was otherwise.

My seat is just foam and wire. I have to contend with the boot for the convertible top to fall into. I'm going to post some pics tonight, my camera is dead right now and is charging so they will be up prob late.

t: it's not bad information and you calling me a liar is just rude. I respect your opinion and experience in this matter, but it can happen (and did to me). I realize that the current draw is low and that it's only function is to switch a relay. That doesn't mean that there isn't 12v power to it any time the deck is on. Maybe a whole myriad of things had to happen for it to happen to me (crappy RCAs for instance) but it did happen.

There is nothing wrong with being cautious when installing. The fact that you would advise someone AGAINST taking extra precaution is just ludacris. Unessecary? Your experience says so... Bad advice? Not at all...

Just like running a fuse on the remote wire can save your deck... "Pros" don't do it, but I do... Nothing wrong with being cautious... "Pros" don't solder wire harnesses either, but I do... Is there anything wrong with either approach? Probably not...

Sorry to insult your 15 years of experience and ego...

ttocs,
i guess i should throw away all the rca jacks then that come from my suppliers with the trun on attached....

trust me, your noise did not come from the remote turn on wire...you had a ground loop of some sort or just a bad ground....

a difference of a tenth of a volt at your amp versus the rest of your electrical system will cause noise problems, and usually this is due to a bad/poor ground.....
noise can be extremely difficult to track down but there is no need to worry about it coming from your turn on.....if you want to run it seperate...good go ahead, nothing wrong with that.....

Wow! You guys really take this stuff seriously! Much appreciated. Seriously. Anyway, here are some basic pics, if you would like to see anything else let me know and i can take the pics tomorrow, or maybe tonight.

This is where i customized the grommet in the driver side corner of the firewall. I cut a hole through the grommet that was on an angle back near the very top of the grommet. It worked real well. The rubber of the grommet sealed around it very well, and to feed the wire easily after using a screwdriver to start it, i wd-40'ed the hole a little and the wire pulled right through nice and easy.

some more

I hooked up my remote wire to fuse #30 which my manual says are the running daylights which here in America we don't have on the mustang. I used this cause of two reasons, 1. this is only on when the car is on 2. it is unused!

Here's my custom box built by the woodshop at the high school i work at. They built it exactly to the instructions in the kicker manual. Awesome props to the Gloucester High School Wood shop! It's a slot ported box housing a 10" kicker L5 wired at 2 0hms.

last two, check out the size of that trunk! My trunk is so small and the damn trunk molding or whatever you want to call the fabriced plastic in the back is such a weird angle that my box sticks out so far into the trunk. I was thinking of cutting it to push the box back in, or just leave it and build an amp rack over the other amps behind it. Damn convertible top!
