K-40, add the license plate laser defuser. You'll be untouchable. Literally. Sadly not to many people know about K-40. The RD-850 is a nice, non-installed unit. The Calibre system is amazing. But expensive, well I guess if it gets you out a just a couple tickets, between paying the tickets, insurance rates increasing, it may actually be an investment. K-40 even gives youa year warranty against tickets, if you get one with their system. They pay for it.
+1 K-40's are the bomb

"I know I'll get flamed for saying this, however the Valentine is achunky and ratheroutdated design"

Well if you're talking about the external design then yes, it hasn't changed since they first started coming out. As for the internals that's obviously not true, they update it periodically which they do for free for the lifetime of the detector if you send it back to them. I've driven cross country twice with my Valentine 1 and drive from LA to Vegas a lot, so a lot of chances to go fast and I have yet to get one ticket since I've gotten it. I swear by it, I've used other detectors but in the end at this pricepoint they're all pretty comprable. Personally I've gotten used to the V1 and I swear by the directional arrows, it seems illogical not to have them on a radar detector.

I have a Cobra XRS9330, have to say that for $100, it not only works well, it's nearly flawless. 360 degree radar detection, half of the time, it catches the cops using radar or laser before I can even see them (tagged one over a hill last night, saved me a 65 in 35 ticket). Might be worth looking into.

Well I got a good deal on the 9500i so I purchased it. Looks like im the guinea pig here. So far it works wonders. I like the features that it uses and has yet to save me from a ticket but it has spotted out cops and such. Not that I have received a ticket with it, just that I am testing the waters before I dive in. It lets me know in plenty of time when there is an officer using his or her radar. Stay tuned because I will try to make updates to this thread.
