Default New sub box design

I have 2 L7 12's in my trunk right now, they are in a sealed box and i want to make a ported one. I know they say to face the subs towards the rear bumper, but i have mine blowing into the cabin right now and don't think it could be too much louder facing them to the back (and it seems it would raddle so much worse). Anyways, the new box i may be attempting to make will fire the subs towards the rear, yet have the ports venting into the cabin. Is this a good idea or just dumb? I really don't think i have enought room to put the subs and the ports on the same face of the box, so i was wondering everyones opinion on how this would sound.

Kickers design where you have the woofers facing the back of the car and the slot ports on the ack side of the box, as in firing towards the side of your car, has been known to work and be rather loud. I would try that. I wouldn't try fire the port into/towards the cabin of the car. PS, facing the woofers backwards towards the rear of the car is 98% of the time the loudest way.

l7's like big box's

3-4 cubes per sub tune them around 32hz and you will get them things bangin

Yeah and goodluck with that, I barely got a 4 cu box in my stang, let alone 2.

You can get a 8" speaker to pound with a box that big, with the right build quality and design that is.

I had them each in a 3.25cu box ported in my old pickup, now that was loud.

So i'm going to try and make the box like you said seight, aim the subs to the back and have the ports on the side. The kicker spec box on their website says it is tuned to 40hz, would it be worth it to tune it lower, or would them being in a smaller ported box not make it worth it? Also, i figure i can get about 2cubes per sub, but they will be pretty close to the rear of the trunk (about 4 inches from the very back) and i was wondering if i angled them up towards the trunk lid, around like a 30-45degree angle if it would affect the sound in a negative way; the only reason i wanted to do that was to make them look a little nicer sitting back there. Last question... is the port volume and interior volume of the box proportional? Like if i had a 2 cubic ft. box with a .5 cu.ft. port. would it need to be twice that size if i had the same speakers in a 4 cu.ft. box? Thanks for all the help.

40 Hz is pretty high.
