I'm looking for info on the resistor and where to put it. Also, I think I might have an amp that is bad and was wondering what speakers the amps power. I only found two in the rear. Does each amp power each side of the car? Or is one for the front and one for the rear.

Well for the resistor you need to put a 1kohm resistor In-Line with the remote wires (Blue/white). The amps power different things depending on what mach system you have, and the year of your car. If you have a 01-04 mustang with the mach460, all the amps power in your car are the woofers. If you have the mach1000 then they power the woofers, and another pair powers the subwoofers.

I have a 1996, sorry I guess I forgot to mention that. But is this resistor litteraly just solderd to one end of the wire, put another small piece of wire and solder it to the other end and put that end into the harness? Or even just butspliced?

You can just use butt-connectors. It will work fine.

the amp in the rear on the drivers side powers the front door subs, the passenger side powers the rear subs.
