Just start checking things from the source. In essence the operation of the amp/subs is very simple. You need to make sure the amp is getting power from a 12V source, has a good ground, gets a remote signal from the radio to tell the amp that the radio is on, and an audio signal usually in the form of RCA cables connected to the headunits preouts.
Get a test light and check the 12V power, ground, and remote to make sure all are functioning correctly. If not, check all fuses (usually in line of the 12V power and on the amp itself). If this checks out make sure the amp is getting a signal. Sometimes this can be tricky because the signal can actually be turned off at the head unit. If that looks to be right, make sure the subs are connected correctly. You could try just hooking up one sub directly to the amp to make sure it functions. If that works, then make sure your wiring between the subs and box is correct.
Good luck.
