I would honestly consider upgrading amps, but any amp is better then HU power.

I'm betting that amp really only puts out at most 50 watts per channel. It will be enough, but the more the better.

The four channel you have now should be fine but you can always upgrade later. What Preal said in a earlier post. I second thatI've had pioneer in the past but thesound quality is definitly better. Another plus it the preamp voltage. Every little bit helps.

I'm really not much of a fan of Pioneer, either. I have friends with Pioneer headunits and they are all pleased, but other than that, my knowledge of Pioneer isn't the best.

One more thing on the OEM components, don't bother with them. I like them and they're not so bad when crossed over correctly (and are given ample power), but I don't think they're at all what you're wanting here. Look for a quality set of components for $200-300. I really, really like the Alpine Type-X components. I'll let you know what I think of the Image Dynamics CX components when they get here.

Any Eclipse HU would be just fine for your needs (I've never owned one, but I have yet to hear any complaints). I tend to gravitate to Alpine, but that's just from personal preference. :>

So how does the Eclipse 6610 stack up against the Pioneer AVIC Z2?

Update, for the components I went ahead and ordered these: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4630

Hopefully the tweeter upgrades were worth the extra 50 bucks.

I'm stuck right now, though, because I can't figure out what head unit to go with. [sm=headbang.gif]

I narrowed it down to four choices:The top of the lineoption being the Pioneer AVIC Z2 vs.the Eclipse AVN6610, and the more economicaloption being the Pioneer AVIC D3 vs. the Eclipse AVN5510. I have researched the hell out of these units and I just can't figure it out. Any advice or opinions?

How could you ever question a Z2 or D3?

That's a given, the Z2 outnumbers the D3 in every category.

In my own extremely biased opinion Pioneer> Eclipse in H.U.
