Looking for suggestions.
I would like to replace the factory speakers in my 06 GT but I'm not sure which speakers to go with. Here's the 3 I have in mind please let me know what you think.
1) JL audio
2) Polk
3) Infinity
For those of you that already have any of the 3 let me know what size you went with 5"X7" or 6"X8" and any pros or cons. Thanks.

1) Overpriced but nice
2) Never like much but the momo components
3) Harsh tweets and no midbass (I own some infinity comps)
Do you have any sort of budget? What type of music do you listen to? Will you be doing the install yourself?

Not worried about the price really. As far as music selection, well I listen to oldies, rock, classic rock and country. I will be doing my own install, I've done all my own installs in the past with no problems.
I really like the Alpine Type-X components (SPX-177R) if you can find a set. The midbass is solid and the tweets are smooth (IMO). Another option would be Image Dynamics CX64's or CX62's. I'll be putting a pair in one of my vehicles shortly. Image Dynamics is...mmmm. ;>

If you have no budget then we have no idea how much you want to spend.
The alpine F1's are awesome, but they cost like $7k.
DLS Iridiums for around $1200
Might as well use audison or mcintosh amps with no budget either.... That will run around 2 grand for a complete system...
I would suggest you set some sort of budget. You can get good front comps and an amp for under $200.

Good point. Some sort of budget needs to be thrown out here for suggestions to match. We can offer all kinds of stuff, but without a budget, it's kind of a moot point..

Honestly how much of a budget do you need just to put a decent set of REPLACEMENT speakers in a car. I know the ones that come with the car are cheap and I would like to put something better in there. I'm not looking to replace the whole system. To spend $500 or $750 should be plenty. I like my car but I'm not about to put 7k worth of speakers in it. I've been out of the audio game for some time now and I was just wondering would be a nice substitute for better sound. Thanks for all your input.

if you have the either of the 2 shaker systems.. the speakers are very good.. i wouldnt be complaining

That being said, if you're willing to spend $500-750, are you willing to buy a new head unit and an amp, or are you only looking at buying speakers? You're wasting your money (bigtime) if you buy a nice set of speakers and keep the factory HU/amps.
If you want a cheap replacement that should be a good bang for your buck, try these:

They'll work well with your stock headunit and amps and should be a bit cleaner than your stock speakers. That is, assuming they're 4ohm (someone else can verify this, because I'm not sure).
IMO, go that route or buy a full setup--a headunit, an amp (at least one), and components. Your money is completely wasted if you buy only a pricy set of components to integrate into your stock stereo.
