Default shaker 500 advice-upgrade install tomorrow

I have a 2007 ford mustang with the shaker 500 system in it.

I am going tomorrow to have my stereo upgraded.

I am wondering if I should replace the factory head unit or not?

I am going with alpine 5x7 in door's and rear deck.

Alpin 100wtx4 amp for doors and rear, keeping the factory 8" subs in door with amps and a mono 600wt alpine amp for the subwoofer kicker vr comp 12" with schosche 12" mustang box for the trunk with rockford fosgate filter cap.

I have the sub and 100wtx4 amp, box, filter cap from my truck I got rid of...

I want to keep the factory head unit, but wonderign how much the sound will suffer by using high power to rca connectors to go to the amplifiers?
The install guy says the factory head unit should be fine, but I have doubts about using line level converters.

Wanted to get you advice on this...

Thanks,

Steve

IMO, buy a new headunit with some high-voltage pre-outs or buy something like the JL CleanSweep or a Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.1 (or 3SIXTY.2) to boost the signal. There are other methods as well, but the bottom line is that stock headunits have garbage for output voltage..

I was wondering about those interfaces. I really like the 6 disc in dash changer. Not sure about the reliability of the units. In the past on my fords, I really have disliked the dash kits when you convert from the double din type of receiver.

Do these processors yield the same type of results as buying after market units with preamp outs?

I hear you on the looks, in general, of after market units in factory 1.5 din or double din slots. I don't like how my Alpine CDA-7998 looks in the dash of my Expedition (factory 1.5 din slot). The adapter kit is just downright ugly.

I haven't personally used any of those units, but I've read plenty of rave reviews about them. They're supposed to be really, really nice.

Some others here may be able to verify that..
