I'm wanting to get the hifonics Xi 6406 680-Watt amp. I'd like to just get 4 guage wire now but wasn't certain. And what size wire do I need to get to run from the amp to the subs & speakers?

4 guage is great for that amp.

I prefer to use 12 gauge on speaker and sub wires.

Remember that bigger wire is almost always better.

 

I agree completely, and would love to have like 0 guage, but there's this really unfortunate fact that 0 guage is also way more expensive.

 

what size wire does your amp have as an input? Stuffin 4 awg into an 8 awg terminal is like 10 lbs of BS in a 5 lb bag. You can always use a dist block if you need it smaller but they are right that more is better there.....
