1996 Mach 460 No Sound
I have a 96 GT Convertible, with a Mach 460 sound system in it. I have been searching for my specific problem and my eyes hurt... so I am asking here. If this has been asked before and anyone knows where it is, please just send the link and I will find it. If not, please feel free to help me out. It will be greatly appreciated.
I just purchased this car recently, and when you turn the radio on, it powers up and all the buttons work and the radio even shows the station with stereo. There is however no sound coming from the speakers anywhere, no matter how loud, or what I do with the stereo itself. I checked the fuses in the under the dash fuse panel, and the fuse panel under the hood was missing the fuse for the Amps. I replaced the fuse for the amps under the hood, and I could actually see that there was power there, but there is still no sound coming from the speakers. Can someone tell me if there is another fuse in a different location somewhere either by the amps, or in the line somewhere else? I have searched and have found that according to the posts the amps are under the rear seat, but i havent actually took the car apart and started searching as ofyet. I am trying to aquire as much info as I can before I begin my wiring search... Any Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks....

The system is completely stock as far as I can tell. I havent removed the radio, or any other component at this time. Its almost like the amps are not getting power at all to turn on the speakers. I dont know for sure without knowing how the mach system wires up. This is my first encounter with the mach system. By this weekend I am going to try and start taking stuff out to see the actual components, and to see if there is any physical wear or issues that I can see. Is there one component that can shut down the whole system like this, or does it have to be some kind of wiring, or fuse problem? Anyone know of any sites that have a mach 460 schematic? Thanks...
start at the deck. Pull it out and make sure the audio plug is still connected. Before that I would check EVERY fuse and by every I mean phisically pull each fuse and look at it, or better yet slap a meter on it(under the hood also). It is common for circuits to be linked and find something like the windshield wiper moter fuse blew and now your stereo does not work....
With there being NO sound at all you can probably be sure that it is not all 4 of the amps and it has something to do with the head unit. As you said the amps may not be turning on because the remote turn on at the deck is blown.

Well, I took out the radio and unplugged the lines going to it. I replugged them in and now I have sound from the radio, but no bass. I have seen this problem before on the board, so I am gonna search around and see if I can find out anything on the other strings... Thanks for the assistance. It sounds like all the speakers are now working, the only problem I am facing now it seems is that I dont have any bass at all.
