looks like ya don't need remote start since ya have a manual.

Most people like to get something with the 2-way pagability and you should be able to get something for right around that price range. DEI has purchased the majority of the players in the security industry(sidewinder, viper, code, and a few others)so they are all fairly similar but still different.

The install is MUCH more important then the alarm. A good alarm with a bad install is useless on a good day and could result in you towing your car and payin a mechanich to yank it. Are there any reputable shops in your area? Go in and ask them some questions such as how they make their connections(solder prefered, crimp connectors are acceptable and T-taps are a NO-NO!). Ask if they take the time to try and hide their wiring and alarm modules, tell them that you will poke your head up in the dash and check.... Some shops just throw stuff in the car and don't car what it looks like since %99 of people will never look. I have shown many many customers how easily I could disconnect their alarm and bypass it. It is always fun to show them that with teh door locked I could get in their dash and pull the fuse for the alarm in under 10 secs.... I wish I had a pic of it when I handed them the fuse and asked,"what alarm?"

I install them, or use to full time now it is just a hobby here or there. I am useless when it comes to product knowledge, I am just the wrench in the garage. Point at the equipment, piont at the car and I add them together....

I am a big fan of Code Alarm. Anything DEI, (Python, Viper, Clifford etc.) im not too fond of, I have a top of the line Viper on my car, bought it a few years ago right as I quit BB cause it was only $130 I think with employee discount. Wish I would have saved all the rewiring and dealing with the insurance company when it got broke into right in front of my apartment and didn't make a peep, and just bought a better alarm.

A decent install a=should cost from $150-$180, not sure how much alarm your going to get for $120-$150, but as ttocs said...

It's much better to have a bottom end system with a top end install than the other way around.

I have the first alarm I ever installed still working in my stang. Been in there for 14 yrs, never had to touch it = code alarm.

I have installed DEI brands sidewinder and viper for over 10yrs and put more of them in then anything, they are just as good as code.

Clifford is now owned by dei and they do things a little differently(normally open starter kills for example) and are just as good as the other two.

Brands I would recommend to stay away from would be the brands by excalibur, freedom security, ect........

Again these are only as good as the installer. If you go in asking the questions that I told you and you tell them that you will be pokin yer head under the dash to take a look you should be fine.... A paranoid customer will make an installer think twice about taking shortcuts on your alarm. If it is intalled properly you should hopefully be able to leave it alone for the next decade........
