1969 Convertible sound solution
no I agree that I would rather have no speakers then to thave them at foot level,I was just kidding.
I am really at a loss as how to help this one to be honest. can you get some pics or links to pics that show what we got to work with? I am still thinkin that some shallow build-outs along side the seats would be the best option.
Page 10 on my cardomain page shows the kick panels I made. If teh build out were not as fancy and made to keep things shallow you can get away with one that is only a few inches deep, big enough for a shallow speaker.

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions. I think I may have been to vague on the description. The rear's won't be foot level, they will be about 1/2 up the rear of the car. The issue would be with rear passengers, but I doubt I would be driving 4 around for a weekend cruise now and again.
Still working on the pics...

I was lookin at a recent issue of crutchfield and checkin speaker depths. There were more then a few speakers that were under 3 inches deep. Some build outs on top of the factory panel alongside the bottom section of the seat would make it a little snug for rear passengers(as well as cut off the sound if there are any) but when has the backseat of a mustang not been snug for anyone over the age of 10?
