Default Amp Problem

Okay, I have two 12' alpine woofers and im trying to hook them up to my 300 watt amp. I have it powered, grounded, and the remote wire hooked up. And the light on the amp is coming on, so I guess I'm getting power. I tested the connections running to the amp which fine but the speaker output connections were dead! Is the amp shot or am I doing something wrong?

Kind of new to trouble shooting but have hooked up sytems in the past. Help would be appreciated!!

2 12" to a 300W amp...
Can you specify what amp, what subs, and how you connected the subs to the amp?

ttocs, are your ready for another impedance discussion?

The amp is a pyramid 4 channel 300 watt. I have a box with the two 12' woofers in it but it has one output for the speakers.

Ha nvm! I just found out what kind of rep pyramid has. This amp was given to me so I cant beat that but now I know why. I'll just invest in a better quality amp. Im pretty sure its the amp and not my setup. Thanks for trying to help spyder!

the problem probably has to do with you runing a 4 channel amp in a wierd, mono mode that it is not designed to work under. You might be safe bridging it to a 2 channel mode and then to the subs, you will need to make a hole in the box to run the wire through then.

Haven't we all had a 1000W Pyramid amp at some point in our lives?

Good call on getting a new amp.

JGor10,

Read up on two things before buying a new amplifier.
1) The difference between an Amps Peak power rating, and its RMS power rating.
2) How to wire multiple subs with a single amplifier.

Normally I'd post links and resources, but I'm short on time today.

Read up on those topics, and post back here if you have any questions.
