2005 Head Unit Install ?'s
I cant seem to find anywhere how to remove the OEM stereo. From what I gather, I would have to rip up the center console etc....just to get to it. Before I spent countless hours exploring in the car, does anyone have a detailed write up and or pictures of thier install?
Also before I go splitting into the wires, is there anything I should know? Does anyone have a color codes?
I have done many stereos in the past, but like to have the information in front of me before I start. So anything that anyone can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone.

i'm sorry to say it, but please look around before posting. like 3 threads up there is a write up about the Avic-D3, and i'm sure it could answer like almost all of your questions.

You say you have done many steroes in the past. I have no idea what your talking about splitting wires. From what your saying your talking about like chopping off the factory harness and wiring it into the new headunit. I dunno what kinda crazy installs your doing but that's not how i have ever installed a aftermarket headunit. You will need this.

Plugs into the factory harness to give you the wires out to connect to the headunit.
Just curious what HU are you planning on going with?

go to crutchfield.com ... buy a wiring harness... order the instructions. They have very good instructions that are easy to follow.
basically you have to take out the center console, the side trim, disconnect the heater controls/traction conrol ect., then the panel around the head unit comes off and there are 4 screws holding the head unit in.
