Sub And Amp Install And Questions!
I Just Picked Up A 10' Punch Sub And A 250watt Amp, I Have A 99 V6 Mustang And I Was Wondering If I Can Even Hook An Amp Up To The Stock Stereo System? I Only Have The Amp And Sub, I Have To Pick Up The Wiring This Weekend. Can Someone Give Me A List Of What I Will Need Also I Am Goin To Attempt To Put It In My Self. No I Tried Searching The Forum But I Didn't Find Any Recent Threads On How To Hook Up The System. Also I Was Thinking About Hooking Up My Stock Speakers To This Amp. Would This Improve Anything? But If Someone Could Give Me The List Of Wiring And What I Would Need And How To Do It Myself ,That Would Be Great! I Think I Have Some What Of An Idea How To Hook It Up. Please Correct Me If I Am Wrong.
Hook Amp Up To battery (Run Wires Through Firewall And Back To The Trunk To Hook Up To Amp)
Connect Amp To Sub
Run Wires To Deck....
Also I Can't Seem To Figure Out How To Take My Center Console Out And Take The Cd Player Out...Can Someone Help Me With This??? Pics Would Be Great If You Have Them Handy! Like I Said I Have A 99 V6.

im not familiar with the stock 99 deck so youre going to have to wait for someone else to drop in and let you know what to do with your RCAs, but your going to need an 8 gauge amp install kit. it will include your power wire, which will go battery to trunk and power your amp. that will come with a fuse holder. your going to ground the amp in the trunk. the kit will include a small wire, the remote turn on for the amp, that youll run off an ignition wire. your not going to be able to hook up your door speakers to your amp, and youre going to want to let us know the voice coil of your sub (itll say single or dual, and 2 or 4ohm) and your going to want to let us know if your amp is a mono (one ch) or two ch and we will let you know how to wire the sub from your amp. you got a box for the sub too right?
You don't even need to remove the deck for this.
Basically, all you need is an 8 gauge wiring kit (about $40 www.knukonceptz.com). Run this to the trunk as stated by TI302
If your amplifier has high level inputs, you can just do a split of your rear speakers cable into the amp.
If the amp only has RCA inputs, then get a Line Out Converter, and do a split of your rear speaker cable. (The LOC's basically convert your speaker cable's high level signal into a low level RCA output for the amp)

Wow OK Spyder...This Sounds Like A Great Idea But...I Am New To This So You Might Have To Give Me Some Steps And What Your Abreviations Mean...But If I Did This The Amp Wouldn't Turn off With My Headunit then Correct??
Do You Have Any Pics?

yea if you want to do this without even pulling your deck then you wont have a remote turn on wire. if you dont want to tap into anything under the dash then while you run your power wire run a switch to your remote turn on input on the amp
The switch is a good idea.
The remote wire can be pulled directly from the fuse box (If you still don't want to pull out the HU).
Or you might want to check your amp... Some amps have a smart turn-on feature that doesn't require a remote turn-on wire. They simply turn on when there's music to be played, and shut off after a couple of minutes of silence.
The only abbreviaitions I used where LOC = Line out converter , and RCA's are the regular audio video cables you've used half your life (RCA = Radio Corporation of America if you must know...)
