Hey, my last post showed a few options, and I just wanted to mention this as an addition... I used to have a couple pairs of Alpine Type R speakers and they sounded really good, handled the bass pretty good for speakers I think, but they were for a different car. Didn't fit right in the Mustang and didn't sound as good as possible... ttocs, you were right about that one, lol. The 6x9s sounded good, but the 5.25s didn't. *But* if you get some speakers that do fit right, it should sound really good. As for the Type R subs, now that I think about it, they might be a bit overpowering... I traded my speakers for 2 Alpine Type E 12s that my friend had. Worked well for me because he didn't want my amp for the speakers and I got those subs and an amp to power them. Alright, down to my point. I think those subs might be better than the Type R if you don't want overpowering bass, because after installing them, you can keep them quiet or you can turn them up pretty loud. The Type E 12s are 250rms each and is plenty for me. I'm not sure how good others sound, but these hit hard enough I think. Definitely going to need at least a better battery. Also, those subs are pretty cheap on ebay. My suggestion - Type R speakers to replace stock, amp to power them, Type E subs, amp to power them, and an optima battery. Maybe a capacitor. Oh, and a new head unit. By the way, I'd recommend a head unit with 3 preamp spots, because you'll need 2 preamps for the speakers if you get a 4 channel amp, and 1 more preamp for the subs if you get a mono amp. You could probably do that for around $800, maybe a little more, not sure... And I don't really feel like looking it all up on ebay, lol. Just my opinion and good luck with your decision.

I would put a deck in the car.

Can I assume you then have around $1000 to spend.

I hate to tell you, but girls don't care about your sound system or your chrome rims.....
