Default New head unit, reccomendations?

Let me start by saying that I'm not selling anything on this thread, I know where it would belong if I was...and I know I dont have enough posts to sell anything yet...anywho...

I bought my 99 Mustang with a Kenwood KVT-715dvd DVD player installed, with 2 amps(Infinity) a subwoofer and speakers(all Infinity). I know absolutely nothing about car audio, but I know I do not need a dvd player in the car and I dont care much fo the thumping sub in the trunk, which I believe is a 12". I am going to have one amp, the subwoofer and the dvd removed and I'll sell them whenever. The DVD player is just too complicated for me with way too many setting and sounds, I guess I'm a simpleton

My question is, what would be a good head unit to replace it that would soundgood with one amp and the infinity speakers? I like it loud andclear sounding when listening to rock/punk/hip-hop etc..I dont need the bass of the sub but some bass would be nice. I'm looking to spend about 400 on the unit. I think I could probably get about $700 for the 3 things I'm selling, but who knows.

Thank you in advance to anybody who wants to share their input!

Lol, I always recommend the same one to everybody, probably because I have it... If you don't mind the lack of a CD player and have an ipod and use it a lot, you'll be fine. The controls are very similar to the ipod and pretty easy to use, I like it. Alpine IDA-x001. Could get on ebay for like 200 sumthin I think. If I remember right, it's 450 from the Alpine website. I dunno, I like it and if it sounds like something you could live with, I'd at least check it out.

I just bought the Pioneer p7000bt...I would recommend it, but it is giving me NOISE problems[:@]

The features are desirable though.....it has built in bluetooth to talk on the phone, or stream audio from your phone (just like an ipod!)

Or, you can plug an ipod into it, or use the USB on the back to add a flash drive full of Mp3s............

Sounds great right, I just wish it would work for me with no noise
