Can someone verify this?
This is a conversation on the AVIC411 site concerning a AVIC D3 and the rear speakers sounding muddled.
Can someone verify that the below conversation about using a Y-adapter to connect the sub is true? The Shaker 500 only requires the white RCA to be connected?
I think I recall something about a Y-adapter with a Taco Bill writeup but I am not sure.

ok. that adaptor is a universal shaker adaptor for the mustang. its for the 500 and the 100....the white rca powers the rear door subs and the red powers the trunk subs. the 500 doesnt have the trunk subs, only the 1000 does. the red rca and the amp wire parrallel to it, tape them up and dont use them. you put the remaining amp wire in line with the src wire and a 5v regulator, awesome. now the white rca should go into the subwoofer output plug from the deck. lamme ask you tho, how is the sound in the read without the sub plugged in??? i mean if they sound like crap without your subs goin then the adaptor isnt ur problem. if it sounds fine then plug into the subwoofer output and mess with the settings. you should be arite.
So you are saying the white RCA and corresponding blue wire are for the door subs and their amp, while the red RCA and corresponding blue wire is for the shaker 1000 trunk subs and amp?
Since I have a shaker 500 all that needs hook up is the white RCA from the pre-out on the HU and the corresponding blue needs to come from the output of the 5V regulator.
That is what I have expect that I have both blue wires going to the regulator and the red RCA hooked up as well.
Since I don’t have the shaker 1000 it should not matter if those wires are hooked up at the harness because the red RCA and blue wire do not exist at the factory harness.
Does this make any sense LOL?
u got it! lol. theyre useless unless u have the 1000 which you dont. but im not sure about the HU rca i think the way they work is white is left and red is right since theyre made for aftermarket amps which use both. so if you have, try adding a y adaptor to both rcas coming from the unit and plug that single end into the white one so theoretically youll get your left and right bass. cuz i was just thinking about it, with only white to white you should only be bumpin to one side's bass. and i plugged it into the subwoofer output, not the rear output (i dont even recall seeing a rear output, but nor did i look) so do that and get back to me, if it sounds better then you did what you had to do with the wires just adjust the EQ to your liking.

rear speakers sound muddy, kinda like you stuck them in an upstairs airvent and you are listening to them downstairs? Look to see fi you have the FIE(front image enhancment) option turned on and turn it off.
avic-d3 doesnt have FIE function, like on other pioneer decks. Now that i think about pioneer stop putting that on there new decks bc i guess people were turning it on and wondering why there rear speaker only got bass.
check the staging function, what do you have that on?
yes you do need to use the y plug (1f to 2m) for the 500 system, but that has nothing to do with your rear speakers that is just for the subs.

sounds like only the woofer is on, not the tweeters in the back.
I would still take a very close look at that hrns to make sure that none of the pins got pushed out when you put them together or that there are not shorts. IF I had another hrns I would double check to make sure that the pins were in the right place.

This is the harness you have correct? Well on the bigger plug, the speaker wires run the 4 6x8 in the car, and the little plug runs just the woofer in the front door. There are no tweeters in the shaker 500 system your 6x8 run your mids and highs and your woofers in the doors do your lows. But on the mach 460 there are 4 tweeters and 4 6x8s.
So what im getting to is that it sounds like it more of a setting problem on the deck and not a wiring issue. like on the older mustang with the mach the pins would pull out of the harness all the time, but i have done 100's of new fords with this harness and never had a pin push out i think metra and scosche finally figure out how to make a harness with out the pins pushing out.

I agree that it sounds like a settings problem. My problem is that I don't fully understand the different settings.
If I may, I can write down the settings I have set along with their description, and maybe someone can tell me if they are right.
ttocs tried explaining some of the stuff in another post (btw, thanks ttocs), but it was still a little dense to this noob.
