Honestly 2 12s will hit alot louderthen 2 10s. 12s will hit those lower freq. alot better then 10s will. I have 10s bc i listen to all types of music. If you listen to alot of rap and want to be heardthen 12s will let you be heard 3 miles down the road. Yes 12s will like huge in the back of a mustang bc how big the trunk is but i have done 2 15s in a mustang before if you want to talk about a "fat guy in a little coat".
Back to the question at hand. I would atleast dynmat the trunk lid, the rear deck where the rear speakers are mounted, the floor, well hell do the sides too, so i guess the whole trunk. It isbetter if you do it the the first time instead of having to pull everything back out and dynmatting more.
Bc im sure that box wasnt fun to get in. Did you get the box in?

honestly your just wasting your time with that i would have just gotten 10 inch type r's cause there not gonna sound any different and they will look better in that trunk cause if you get those 12 inch ones in its gonna look like a fat guy in a little coat.

I know a kid that tried to put two 12's in his mustang like yours and the box was way too big. You really have to watch how big the box is to fit because that one looks alot bigger.
