i am angry
ok so i have a infinity basslink sub and it was screwed down in the right rear corner of my trunk. when i say was i mean that it came loose and started sliding around in my trunk. i tried screwing it back in but couldnt get it back in, do i need different bits to tap holes? has anyone bolted thier own sub down that has any pointers?
When you say you tapped the holes, did you actually use a tap? If not, what you need are sheet metal screws, not wood screws. Wood screws can work loose in metal. Your local hardware store should carry a good asssortment of them. If you really want to tap the holes, you need a specific size drilled hole with each tap. For example, a 1/4-20 tap will require a #7(.201) drilled hole. You really can not tap sheet metal because it is so thin. You really need at least 1/8" material to tap. Even then, a 1/4-20 will only have 2 threads holding. I hope this all makes sense to you.
