Default Changing out head unit

I want to change my girlfriend's head unit out in her 99' v6 vert. She currently has the base system with the cassette and cd, single din, respectively. What parts do I need?

I'm pretty sure i'll need :

Head Unit (duh.)
Wiring harness (another duh.)
Mounting kit (yet another duh.)

Do I need an amp bypass or integration harness?

Thanks in advance.

I did my gf's 2000 V6 and let me tell you that amp behind the console/dash sucks but I removed the whole thing. Get a Ford explorer/Mercury Mountaineer kit. You'll have about 15' of extra wiring but that kit is a direct bypass. If you get stumped on it and you live near Delaware I can help you with it.

You just need the Ford Explorer/Mountaineer kit that has the extra 15' of wiring. I tried using the one they gave me for the 2000 Mustang and it didn't work the way I wanted it to.

If you do what I did, you're by passing the amps and removing them completely.

as long as you don't have the mach system with the tweeters by the mirrors, you will have a super easy install. Get a for radio removal key and the deck and cd pop out in a few secs. The harness you will need is a standard ford, 70-1770 or fdo2b harness. You can also get a universal din pocket to cover the hole from the cd.

exactly what I was looking for. Is that all I'll need? I dont need any special bypasses or anything?

if it isn't a mach system you do not even need a kit as long as you get a single din sized radio. As I said a standard ford 70-1770 hrns and a universal din pocket to cover the cd player and it is a 30 min install for a newb....... It really does not get any easier so we would time ourselfs to see how fast we could do it. If you have the harness already wired and know what you are doing you can swap them in under 3 mins.....
