Default need suggestions for complete sound system

So I recently purchased a 99 v6 coupe, and the stereo sucks, so i need a new one. I have no clue where to start so if you could help recommend a system with a new h.u., speakers (front and back), amplifier(s) and a sub. I am looking to spend somewhere around 800 and hoping to get sound a little better then the match 460 in my friends stang. is this budget about right? i am flexible, but would prefer to spend less obviously. any help would be much appreciated.

You can get plenty for $800.00. You're not going to have a crazy competition system but a huge, overall upgrade, hell yeah you can.

Your best bet is to shop used though. You'll get the most for the least that way, check your local craigslist and only buy stuff that the seller can show you working. Look for a class D mono amp/sub combo for sale as well as another 4 chan amp (like 300-400w would be plenty...Even 200w)...You could get all that for under $500.00 used. Then buy some new coaxials @$100-$150 and a HU for about $150 and you have a complete upgrade.

I have no idea where in WI you are but here's an example- http://northernwi.craigslist.org/ele/1917895001.html
