Default Replacing Shaker 500 Head Unit

Wondering if easy to replace a shaker 500 head unit on 2010 stang. More concerned about looking weird or having gaps. Any info would be appreciated

Metra Dash Kit is the only way to do it ATM unless you pay someone to do something custom(big $$$$). Scosche is supposed to be coming out with one this year as well.

Yeah, it's a full center panel of the dash swap, so it's expensive because of all the electronics. I would definitely hold out for the Scosche kit though, it looks really nice, and puts the Head Unit in a much better spot.

Actually the scosche unit puts the HU even lower than the Metra one. Originally they had designed it to go up top but it got redesigned. See the pic in this thread of the guy who has the prototype installed:

Wow, that sucks. The bottom is such a bad spot for it...the original design was much better in my opinion. I wonder why they would do that...

I completely agree. I was very dissapointed when I saw that. I belive they said something about the double din not fitting right on the top due to the size of the cavity or something. The scosche actually sits the double din even LOWER then the metra now. Even tho I dont like the look of the metra I may end up going with it due to it placing the double din a little higher up(2-3 inches from the looks of it). I have an auto so the shifter will be in the way most of the time with the scosche.

Well then that's definitely a benefit of an 05-09. I don't understand how that would be a problem. I wonder if you get the center console piece from Ford and then try to custom fab an aftermarket D-DIN into it if that would work, because the Factory Nav unit is in the perfect spot if I remember correctly.
