Default wiring trouble with a pioneer 2900mp in my 66 stang

I'm five days into a 4 hour project. The 6 X 9s are installed and i've run all the speaker wires to the wiring harness which i bought from Uneeksupply.

http://www.uneeksupply.com/Pioneer-W...04_p_1188.html

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pi...Manual1027.pdf
The strange part is that the wires listed on the wiring harness package doesn’t match what I actually have. The bag says I have:

12 Volt…….Red
Memory…..Yellow
Ground……Use Vehicle Chassis
Power Antenna…. Blue
Illumination……orange
The speakers are self explanatory and all hooked up.

What I actually have for wires and what I think they are:

Orange/white – Illumination maybe? What does that mean? What does that do?
Yellow/Black – Your guess is as good as mine
Blut/White – Power Antenna?
Yellow – Memory? Do I run this right from the battery?
Red – Ignition. I took off the gauge cluster. This just hooks right in behind the key?
Black – I’m going to guess this is the ground?

So I guess what I want to know is. Do I need to run anything to the Orange/White, Yellow/Black, Blue/White, and Yellow wires for this to work. I could just use power and ground right? Also if I hook this into the ignition will it come on when I only turn the key half way or do I need to have the engine running? Thanks for the help.

the illumination wire isnt supported on your model radio so dont even worry about it. if it were supported it would be to dim the radio when headlights are on but even then you dont have to hook it up

black - ground i would find some metal in dash and put an eye on it and attach it to dash with a self tapping screw or a nut and bolt

yellow - straight to battery - constant 12 volts

red - can be gotten at ignition switch - switched 12 volts, this turns radio on and off

both the constant 12 volts and switched 12 volts can be found at ignition switch under dash but you will need a cheap multimeter to find them.

blue/white will connect to a power antenna if you have one, if not dont worry about using it

yellow/black dont use

This should be correct
black-green or red-green (will only have one or the other) at ignition switch should go to red on radio

UPDATE!!!!

EVERYTHING IS NOT OKAY!!! BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA!!!!! So i installed the head unit as described in the manual and it was playing great. I really loved the sound.

but......

A few weeks later when i went to show my neighbor and take it out for a ride......THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. I though maybe it was from having the door open so much when i was working on things. So i jumped it and everything was good.....

Till the next day! Dead Battery!

I thought maybe i had it hooked up wrong. Here's how i had it.

Speakers wire to all the speakers (duh)

Ground (black) to the bottom of the dash (i filed away some paint to make sure it was a good connection)

Red to the back of the ignition switch

Yellow to the battery (fused)

I changed things up slightly by disconnecting the wire from the battery and instead running the constant (yellow) to the fuse box. But then yesterday.........DEAD BATTERY!!!!!

WHAT DO I DO?!?!?!?!? I'm frustrated and confused. I need expert help!

Are you certain that it's the radio causing the battery draw? You could either disconnect the radio for a day and see if the battery is still dead in the morning or take the car to autozone and have them check the battery/alt.

it is probably not turning off. Try taking the face off of it or just disconnecting the hrns to the radio and see if the batt still dies. It has to do with the red ignition wire.
